J Carlyle starts 2021 as he means to go on with new single ‘Intruder Alert’

Harry Fenn

2020 proved to be quite the year for J Carlyle, as he released multiple singles as well as his debut EP, Calculating the Ifs. This year, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. ‘Intruder Alert’ was released in February to immediate acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio and GRM Daily.

J has been writing songs since the age of 15 and has incorporated elements of a wide variety of genres to create his own, truly unique sound. From the moody, attention-grabbing intro to the hook that will be firmly lodged in your head for the foreseeable future, J takes a look at the hardships of being pestered over the internet; I can’t help but agree with BBC Introducing in calling this track an ‘absolute banger’.

J’s previous single, ‘Forever Girl’ was produced by the platinum-selling Mantra, signalling that J Carlyle is one to watch out for this year. 2021 will see several more releases from J as well as the release of a book of poetry and spoken word performances.
