The 36-year old 2000’s star Charlotte Church, who was also known as a child star with her youthful opera vocals turned pop star later in life, has shared the ins and outs of working with major labels within the music industry.
Sharing that she felt like a “commodity”, Church speaks on how the double-edged sword state of the music scene has been both a positive and negative as she has navigated her way through the fame and fortune over her years of stardom.
She expressed that her time within a major label left her feeling like a product waiting to the sold, equally in a troublesome time within the period of working under such extreme pressure. Charlotte shared within an interview with The Guardian that when she was 18 years old, due to the excite and impact of the new found deal, she bought a boat for one million pounds which she then sold a year later for half the price, exemplifying the extremity of being caught up in the moment with these kinds of record deal payouts.
Now, as she has settled into her true love within the industry, she expresses that alongside her work one of her biggest joys is being a wife and parent. Describing motherhood as her ‘main job’, Charlotte has made it evidently clear that her family will now always come before the retrains of the industry.
She still continues her passion for music as she regularly works on her music, alongside have her own ‘Late Night Pop Dungeon’ Show – Charlotte has proven that there is room for both love and career in the same pot!
