Under The Spotlight: Shiny Glide

To make music that is truly ethereal and otherworldly demands an artist to truly be in touch with their inner-self and psych-rock wizard ‘Shiny Glide’ is a perfect example. His latest album of trip hazards and tranquil melodies, ‘Nocturnal Flight’, is a joy to be consumed by and we had the privilege of talking to the man behind the moniker to find out more…

SS: How would you describe your songwriting process?

I reach my sky and my abyss, I am in tune and in touch with my brightest and my darkest sides and my songs can tell that. It’s a very intimate and passionate moment to me and it is also a very natural and liberating process, it keeps me from going totally crazy and choosing dangerous and obscure roads and lifestyles.

SS: How has this process evolved over time?

I have become more professional and focused, in the past I was not so connected to my gift and I still feel sorry and pay the price for that. Too much sex and drugs and not enough rock’n roll…but I guess you must always be able to accept and forgive your past and your weakness.

SS: Do you take songwriting inspiration from anyone in particular?

Not really, I follow my musical soul,my poetic and songwriting talent and my absolute ear.

SS: What is the hardest thing about songwriting to you?

To me songwriting and making music and melodies is very natural and easy, maybe the hardest thing is having to deal with envious artists and musicians who insult me and resent me simply for not being so productive and creative as I am. Unfortunately the world and the internet is full of haters, and overreacting to them can turn you into a sad hater too.

SS: Do you have any remedies for a creative writing block?

Just have a break and sleep on it,which it is not so easy as it seems considering that from times to times I suffer from insomnia.

SS: What did you learn about yourself as a musician from writing/recording nocturnal flight?

I learned to stay strong and faithful to my spirit, to be light and free like a bird and to trust my third eye and my divine self.

SS: How has the album been received by fans so far?

I had some good reaction, but I could not yet afford  the promotion it deserves in order to becomes successful. Anyway I am a honest and generous artist, I give it all to my music and my fans, so if I had millions of dollars I would invest millions in my music too. I am working on that.
