The Statue Thieves are taking the underground scene by storm with their new album ‘Laniakea’. The band, which comprises of members from across Europe, have shown from the beginning that they mean business. Their ability to combine psychedelic rock with bad-ass bass riffs creates a sound that any indie-lover could get their groove on too.
Their intriguing name derives from the bands love for astronomy, the unconscious, and fine art, with the band stating that:
“The album is slightly conceptual and narrates the process from birth to death, passing through love, breakups, substance abuse and social critic.”
This album is evidently heavily influence by fine art, as shown in their latest music video for ‘Jacob’s Well’.

Just when you think it couldn’t get more interesting..
During an interview with the band, they explained that they originally recorded the album the old fashion way with analog tape! (all you millennials out there.. google it… *sigh*). Thieves explained that this technique gave ‘a very intense presence that we’re really proud of’, which explains the warm bass sound and all-round well-mixed album.
The upcoming band have also had a sell-out show in Spain recently, and not to mention the fact they’ve recorded in Pink Floyd’s late studio ‘Britannia Row’, showing their potential and how they really are destined for a fantastic future in the music industry.
So… what’s the ‘sound’ like?
‘Jacob’s Well’ offers a likeness to indie band Arctic Monkeys, particularly their sound on ‘Snap Out Of It’, and in-fact, the tones that resonate throughout are akin to the entire AM album. To be compared to a band of that caliber, The Statue Thieves must be doing something right…
