This week, pop star Taylor Swift has released newest single ‘Carolina’ ahead of her collaboration within upcoming feature film ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’. The single will be included within the upcoming film version of ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ amidst it’s favourable popularity from the 2018 murder-mystery novel written by the ever-growing author Delia Owens. ‘Normal People’’s phenomenon Daisy Edgar-Jones stars in the film which was also produced by well-loved access Reese Witherspoon – a true team of creative women on board!
Taylor has shared that she found her writing has been subconsciously reflecting the role in which Daisy plays within the film which is one of an outcast who feels a sense of intense loneliness. This creative vulnerability allowed for Swift to join this project with a profound and powerful emotional intelligence which was bought to the table.
Lyrics within the new single include the profound message which shares a sense of familiarity webbed within lonesomeness as the lyrics state; “…And there are places I will never, ever go, and things that only Carolina will ever know”. Packed full with creative correlation to the brief, powerful eeirie vocals and an incredibly well developed essence of the films storyline, Taylor has made an already impactful print within the films message.
